Wireless Networking Security
by mritunjay on Nov.22, 2009, under Computer & Laptop, Internet
Internet has ubiquitous presence all around us. One can use broadband services or wireless networks. Now a days, more and more people are going for wireless security system in homes as well as offices. But while you go for wireless, try to keep security aspects in mind. It will also help if one has little knowledge of operations of wireless network security. Wireless networks are quite often prone to hacking so it pays to adopt some ultra-security measures. You must follow certain steps while you begin the process.
Begin with completely removing all the default settings on the wireless network devices. That’s the first step. Removing the default settings include changing the service set identifier (SSID), and the administrator name. Don’t forget to change the admin password as well. Never ever leave these settings to default. If you have attached remote services, you will also need to duplicate these changes. Keep in mind what you would like to use before implementing these changes. Many people prefer to leave every setting to default values and first test the network for operation. Once the test is done, shut the system and then change these values. That’s an individual’s choice when he does it sooner or later. But it has to be done.
The second stage is of enabling the security. Make sure the security is of highest level. The ideal setting is to go for WPA2 or WPA. That will make your network quite safe and secure. You must upgrade your security if you are still using an older version.
The last step involves shutting the ‘network door’ to outside, unauthorized users. This will include closing down all the broadcast invitations. Implementing all these steps will make your wireless network quite secure and safe.
Online Job Scams

Now a day, computers are being used a large part of world population. Every year, the number of computer users is increasing manifold. This is truer in developing countries. From the tag of being luxurious, computer today is more considered as a necessity. Most of the urban households are having a computer and internet access. It makes sense also because it helps in all sorts of works including researching your school work, getting directions, to shopping online and even online jobs. Right from child to his parents and even grandparents all can make optimum use of internet.
But they say no good thing is without its cons. In case you are heavily using computer with internet access, you run the risk of millions of internet scams. You must have come across many such mails or notifications informing you of you being selected for million dollar prize or promising thousands of earning per week or a month. Unfortunately, many people do fall prey to such scams and feel like giving it a shot.
Many companies promising online jobs first ask for a payment. Don’t fall to this. Just think about it. If you are going to join the work, shouldn’t you be the one to get the money and not vice versa? The point to notice here is, check the contact number of the website. If you find the number working, do make the call and enquire thoroughly about the job and how it really works.
The next precautionary step could be of checking for the address. I mean, if the company is real and job is valid, address must be naturally legit. Lastly, you can also do online search. You will come to know the facts from online search.

Our online world has changed so much in last few years. Every day, we listen about some new events, new software or a new technology that keeps making our world a easier place to place. What we have now is, Web 2.0. If you are not aware of it then let me tell you, it is also considered as the ‘second generation’ of the Internet. Web 2.0 is a concept. Don’t go by its name and it is not something that can be purchased neither it is an updated version of any software. In other words, Web 2.0 is a way of doing thing on internet in a different way.
Let me explain you. Remember those old days of early 90s? We used to surf web, download software and use it. There were things like chat messenger, online forums etc. Now, what we have is much more than that. We are not just restricted to these mundane activities. We interact with internet. We use blogs and use social bookmarking. There are number of good social networking sites using which we interact with the rest of the world. We can now develop a website in a single day and have it up and running.
Web 2.0 has its core several new concepts and specific technologies. But the essence is interactivity. Sites catering to web 2.0 are becoming increasingly popular because people can interact with and through them. And how can we forget importance of video in this concept. Remember, Youtube.com? Internet marketers are making full use of this concept. Of course, there is lots of money to be made. Now, all we are waiting for is Web 3.0. Who knows, what fortune that will bring to us!

by pankti on Sep.26, 2009, under Internet
Internet plays such a vital role in our lives. The way broadband has proliferated in recent years speaks of its importance. It is one of most favoured mode of business as well as personal communication. It is also an encyclopaedia and a treasure of knowledge. Life without internet seems so difficult. It is very hard to comprehend how helpless we will feel without having internet facility. In tune with its rising popularity, many surveys now take internet connection as a barometer of social justice and equality. In India, the things are rising fast but the per capita penetration is still far from satisfactory. Indian government is trying its best to push the internet connectivity in all corners of the country. Recently, broadband has been given as must for any new internet connection. It also signifies one will have minimum speed of 256 kbps.
Worldwide, no less than 20 percent of Internet connections around the world were at speeds greater than 5 Mbps and that is indeed remarkable. It is almost 21 per cent increase over the average global connection speed at the end of 2007. This report has been prepared by State of the Internet report and published by Akamai Technologies which is a renowned name in the world of telecommunication. In terms of internet connection speed, top 10 nations are;
- South Korea
- Japan
- Hong Kong
- Romania
- Sweden
- Switzerland
- Netherlands
- Belgium
- Slovakia
- Norway
Surprisingly, United States is at the 17th position and China has an average internet speed of 833 kbps. Total 223 countries were surveyed and as far as India is concerned, it stands at a dismal 115 position with average speed of 772 kbps. The global internet connection speed is 1.5 Mbps. So, India has a lot to catch up with but things are improving fast and necessary steps are being taken.
